Check-in in under a minute

Reception is the first contact, and often the first irritation. It is not the welcome that is at fault, it is the form being copied out by hand.

A guest arrives after a flight or six hours on the road. They are standing, suitcases beside them. You take their identity document and copy it out: surname, first name, date of birth, document number, nationality, address. Meanwhile, they wait.

The first contact, and the first irritation

All the care put into the room and the welcome is settled first at that desk. Two minutes of copying are enough to turn an arrival into paperwork: the guest stops looking at the property and starts looking at the pen.

It is not about how fast the person on reception is. Copying ten fields without a mistake takes attention, and attention given to the form is taken away from the guest.

Read the document instead of retyping it

The information is already printed on the identity document. Reading it replaces ten typed fields with one photo and a check. The form fills itself, you look it over, you confirm. The guest has time to put their bags down.

  • One photo of the document instead of ten fields
  • You check, you confirm
  • The statutory form is ready, in the expected format

What it really saves over a day

On one arrival, two minutes saved change nothing. On six arrivals, often bunched up in the late afternoon, it is a quarter of an hour handed back at exactly the moment reception is busiest — and nobody left standing in line.

That is Lodalia’s principle: remove the typing at check-in, so reception looks after the guest and not the form.
